We are Dave and Nicola McCreary, a Doctor and Nurse team with our own aesthetic clinic called The Saltwell Clinic in Low Fell, Gateshead since 2018. We are well known in our local community for delivering excellent and natural treatment results.
We specialise in injectables, skincare and Permanent Make-Up (Lip Blush). Nicola's nursing background was in care of the elderly but being completely obsessed with all things skincare led her into aesthetics. Dave has a perfectionist eye for non-surgical rhinoplasty and also works as a Consultant Paediatrician in a busy Paediatric Emergency Department.
We're ordinary clinicians with big ambitions! We're not like big pharmaceutical companies with a huge budgets or large teams. But we really understand what the specific need is in aesthetic clinics and have developed innovative products to address these needs to help your clinic run smoother and effortlessly protect and beautify your patients' skin.
We were tired of the same old bleachy smelling product with limited skin benefits. It slowed us down because it doesn't contain any cleansing agents (surfactants) so meant we needed to use other products to fully prep and remove make-up and oils from our patients' skin.
Nicola came up with the idea of One Step Prep after spending time in other clinics for training. She noticed that some busy clinicians were using a well known skin sanitiser as though it removed make-up as well as sanitising the skin. The most commonly used skin sanitiser in aesthetics clinics is hypochlorous acid which acts like a mild bleach solution, hence why it smells like chlorine. It does not contain any surfactants so is inadequate as a make-up remover or for removing oils from the skin. Surfactants are the cleaning agents in cosmetic products which bond to the oils and impurities to draw them away from the skin. Many of our aesthetic patients arrive wearing make-up and it can take time to thoroughly remove all traces of this as well as sanitise the skin adequately.
To carry out complete skin preparation it has been necessary to use multiple products and the right sort of products formulated specifically for use in aesthetics haven't really been available.
We wondered if there could be a product which would efficiently cleanse and prepare the skin to injection-ready status in one step. It needed to also be used mid-procedure to stem bleeding, and post-procedure to cleanse treated skin. Our extensive research led us to colloidal silver as being the ingredient that would enable a product to be safe for use on broken skin with many additional benefits for skin healing and beautification.
